German Center Houston
The German Center of Houston (GCH) website’s main mission is to promote and advance German language and culture in Houston, Texas, and the surrounding areas (The Woodlands, Pearland, Kingwood, Tomball, Pasadena, Galveston, etc.). GCH is based in Houston and is certified by the Goethe-Institut, which is the official German cultural organization. This certification allows GCH to administer the Goethe-Institut’s prestigious language exams, and teach German as a second language in Woodlands areas, Houston, and Sugar Land / Rosenberg.
The Goals Of GCH
GCH strives to bring programs to different communities to develop appreciation of German language and literature. The goal is to create an interest in America for German culture, and for present-day German ways of life. GCH hopes that this will create a closer bond between people of German-speaking countries and people in the United States. GCH also wants to foster the German language and culture within the American educational system. They teach German language classes for adults, children and youths.

The museums have diverse internationally recognized collections and also include Germany’s young painting. In addition, the country is also recognized as a book nation with about 94,000 new books and new editions published every year.
